Mad about Mulberry

Every orchard should have at least one variety of nut tree and now I’m equally convinced every orchard deserves a Mulberry tree (Morus nigra). We planted one this spring and were blown away by the growth and explosion of flavour each berry was capable of providing. While doing chores we would all at detour across the farm to pass by this tree only to enjoy a morsel of the delicate fruit. Next year I anticipate the addition of several more mulberry trees.

The mulberry is also the subject of a children’s book in our household that is near and dear to our heart, “The Mulberry Bird“. A must read if you like a good cry at bedtime!
